Strategic Collaboration
Piksel welcomes collaboration on projects in Indonesia that apply geospatial technologies and remote sensing. These projects can involve government agencies, universities, organisations, and other partners.
Geospatial Processing and Analysis
Collaboration may involve processing remote sensing data or undertaking geospatial analysis for a partner's specific needs, such as mapping an area or examining an issue using satellite data.
It can bring a partner's sector knowledge and supporting data together with Piksel's satellite imagery collection, computing infrastructure, and processing and analysis capabilities.
Examples include:
- Combining satellite imagery with field observations or partner-provided data to address sector-specific needs
- Developing geospatial methods and indicators suited to the characteristics of a particular area or issue
- Processing data across large areas or over long time periods when substantial computing capacity is required
For details on submitting a collaboration proposal, see the Collaboration Process.
Capability Development
Collaboration on capability development aims to strengthen the skills of people working with geospatial data, satellite imagery, and analytical technologies. It can take the form of internship or training programmes.
Internship Programme
The internship programme gives students and recent graduates the opportunity to contribute to data processing and geospatial technology development with the Piksel team. Topics and activities are tailored to participants' fields of study and the needs of the institutions they represent.
Internship activities may include:
- Processing and analysing satellite imagery using Python or Open Data Cube
- Developing applications for processing or presenting geospatial data
- Researching and developing analytical methods for particular topics
The programme is delivered in accordance with Badan Informasi Geospasial (BIG)'s internship procedures.
Training Programme
The training programme can be tailored to participants' needs, experience, and backgrounds. Available topics and the application process are outlined on the Training Programme page.
Contributions to Piksel
Piksel's source code is available on github.com/piksel-ina. Developers can contribute to the user interface or geospatial analysis scripts by reporting issues, proposing improvements, or submitting pull requests.
Collaboration Process
- A prospective partner submits a collaboration proposal to Piksel by email at piksel@big.go.id.
- The Piksel team and BIG's Balai Layanan Jasa dan Produk Geospasial receive and review the proposal.
- The team may contact the prospective partner for clarification or further discussion.
- The scope, schedule, and delivery arrangements are discussed together as needed.
- Collaboration is carried out in accordance with applicable requirements.
