About

GeoMAD (Geometric Median and Median Absolute Deviations) is a statistical composite of satellite imagery that represents annual surface conditions and quantifies spectral variability for each pixel over a given period. It combines one year of multi-temporal imagery into a representative view of surface conditions that is relatively free from cloud effects. Alongside annual median conditions, GeoMAD provides measures of spectral variation that can indicate environmental change. It is well suited as baseline data for change detection, land cover classification, monitoring agricultural activity, assessing the growth of built-up areas, identifying changes in forest areas, mapping burn scars from forest and land fires, and other natural resource and environmental monitoring applications in Indonesia.
